Preschool Program and Childcare for Toddlers
Beacon Center for Children has been providing Preschool Education and Childcare to the Philadelphia area for more than 30 years.
We pride ourselves on developing the whole child. Our Preschool and Childcare Program for Toddlers uses a value-centered approach, to foster a toddlers’s intelligence and creativity along with good communication skills. Your child’s individuality is celebrated and includes their unique learning style, interests, and culture, building strong confidence, independence, and a love for learning. Curiosity is strongly encouraged! We discuss of the importance of good values and excellent communication skills as part of daily life. Children are encouraged to be considerate of their friends, honest and kind, flexible and assertive, appreciative and welcoming. Children walk away from our childcare and preschool programs with the tools needed for success!
We offer childcare / daycare in a friendly, joyful place where “children can be children” while engaging in their first “school” experience. Children “learn by doing”, through a thematic approach using manipulatives, games, song, dramatic play, movement and more. There is a balance of developmentally appropriate and always fun indoor and outdoor activities, both teacher directed and child selected, and quiet and active periods. Beacon Center’s goal is for children to have the most fun they can have while developing the tools they need for their next steps after childcare and preschool.
Daily Activities for our Preschool and Childcare Program
In our Childcare and Preschool Program, children are divided into small groups focusing on their individual needs and interests. The Preschool and Childcare Program consists of age appropriate amounts of:
- Indoor and Outdoor Free Play
- Reading and Math Readiness Activities
- Music Appreciation & Creation
- Imaginary Play
- Dance/Creative Movement
- Experimentation/Nature Exploration
- Arts and Crafts
Children bring their own lunches. Healthy morning and afternoon snacks are provided. There are three classes, grouped according to age, including Toddlers: 2-3 years, Middle Class: 3-4 years, and Pre-K: 4-5 years.
There is some overlap in the age groups. As children get older and their skills get stronger, the group activities will reflect these changes creating an atmosphere that challenges and excites them. The small group size is what allows for children to stay with a group for a year or more.
