The Program
The Beacon Center is dedicated to creating a home-like, cozy atmosphere of fun, challenge, understanding, and communication that will ensure the optimal growth of children, parents, and staff. The program combines a balance of indoor and outdoor activity time, quiet and active periods, teacher directed and child selected activities, allowing children to experiment and explore the world first hand, to be creative, and to develop to their fullest potential.
Children are divided into small groups; thus the program focuses on their individual needs and interests. The program consists of:
- Indoor and outdoor play
- Music Appreciation
- Story Telling
- Drama
- Puppetry
- Dance/Creative Movement
- Cooking
- Reading and Math Readiness Activities
- Science
- Arts and Crafts
Children bring their own lunches. Morning and afternoon snacks are provided.
There are three classes, grouped according to age:
- Toddlers: 24-36 months
- Middle Class: 3-4 years
- Pre-k: 4-5 years
As children get older, the activities reflect their abilities, and we provide developmentally appropriate activities at each level.
