Toddler/Preschool Program for Children
For more than 36 years, Beacon Center for Children has been providing Toddler/Preschool Education.
We pride ourselves on developing the whole child. Our Preschool Program uses a value-centered approach to foster a child’s intelligence and creativity along with good communication skills. Children’s individuality is celebrated and includes their unique learning styles, interests, and culture, building strong confidence, independence, and a love for learning. Curiosity is strongly encouraged!
Discussion of the importance of good values and excellent communication skills is part of daily life. Children are encouraged to be considerate of their friends, honest and kind, flexible and assertive, appreciative and welcoming. Children walk away from our preschool program with the tools needed for success!
Daily Activities for Our Toddler/Preschool Program
In our Preschool Program, children are divided into small groups focusing on their individual needs and interests. The Toddler/Preschool Program consists of age-appropriate amounts of:
✔ Indoor and Outdoor Free Play
✔ Reading and STEM Readiness Activities
✔ Music Appreciation and Creation
✔ Imaginary Play
✔ Storytelling
✔ Drama
✔ Puppetry
✔ Dance/Creative Movement
✔ Experimentation/Nature Exploration
✔ Arts and Crafts
Children bring their own lunches. Healthy morning and afternoon snacks are provided. There are four classes grouped according to age:
✔ Caterpillar Room: 18 months – 3 years
✔ Butterfly & Bumblebee Rooms: 3–4 years
✔ Sunflower Room: 4–6 years
There is some overlap in the age groups. As children get older and their skills get stronger, the group activities will reflect these changes creating an atmosphere that challenges and excites them. The small group size is what allows children to stay with a group for a year or more.
